Bleach is not recommended as it is hard on the cotton fibers and reduces its natural properties.
Low Twist Cotton Towels by Daniadown
What does “low twist” mean?
Towels have two basic parts – the base the loops. The base serves as the framework for the loops and border which are woven through it. The base can be seen at the edges of the towel.
What we are interested in today are the loops of the towel. In a traditional towel the loops of the towel are twisted before being woven through the base to give them more strength. In contrast, the loops of a low twist towel have much less twist to them. This is achieved by using higher quality cottons made of longer smooth fibers which are inherently strong.
Benefits
The benefits of low twist towels made with longer staple cotton are that they are softer, more flexible, loftier and less abrasive. This is in part due to the high quality cotton that is used and in part due to the low twist construction. In addition, a low twist towel is more absorbent because the cotton fibres are more open and can take up water more easily.
In short…a low twist towel is softer and more absorbent than a traditional terry towel.
